Resonant Crusher
Two blocks tall: an anvil below, an amethyst hammer above. Put an ore in; at the material’s natural pitch it shatters into dust.
Tune the crusher (either half, sneaking) to the material’s pitch and ring it there with a drumcap or a resonant fungus. Speed = power x match. In tune on the note is best; detuned by a few cents still works well, half a semitone off barely.
Ores give 2 dust, raw metal 1, with a chance of one more. Smelt dust into ingots. Stone → cobblestone → gravel → sand, each at its own pitch.
Chords: other notes ringing near the crusher change its pace. A clean fifth +25%, fourth or octave +20%, thirds +15%, sixths +10%; seconds, sevenths and the tritone slow it down (up to -25%). Each interval counts once, the total stays within ±50%. A consonance a few cents out of tune helps less, past 25 cents not at all. A good chord also raises the chance of an extra piece.
