Aeolian Harp

A free source of audible sound: the wind plays it. Build an upright frame of Harp Frames with one Harp Soundboard in it, any shape (blocks may touch side to side or just corner to corner, so a frame can slant), and hang Harp Strings between its beams: a string is an upright column of string blocks with frame right above and right below it.

Aeolian harp (stepped, 4 strings)

Drag to turn · wheel to zoom · floors count from the bottom; on the floor maps north is up.

Strings 1–4 long play C5, B4, A4 and G4. The frame may also slant: blocks touching at a corner are joined.

A string’s length is its note, in C major: 1 block C5, 2 B4, 3 A4, 4 G4, 5 F4, 6 E4, 7 D4, 8 C4. Step the frame like a real harp’s to get a scale; once whole, the frame turns into a slim carved neck.

Each string gives up to 2 W. No wind below sea level, a quarter at it, full 48 blocks above it; rain ×1.5, a storm ×2; gusts come and go. Blocks within 3 of the harp break the wind. Click the soundboard to read it.
