Seismograph
Build: the seismograph is two blocks tall (it needs room above). Put a Seismograph Frame on each of its four sides: a plus. Once whole, the frames turn into feet with legs up to its cap, and at every ping its hammer drops onto the ground. A missing frame: its diagnosis says how many.

Maps ores through rock. Feed it infrasound along a Vibrating Rod, e.g. from a Water Turbine. It pings the ground (its hammer) and its screen shows one 8-block layer from above, north up, each column in the colour of its best ore. Choose the layer with the buttons on its screen: layer 0 is the 8 blocks just under it, each layer 8 deeper (18: 145–152 down).
Its reach grows with power: 8 W (normal gear) maps 32 blocks round, less power less reach. The gear sets how often it pings (normal every 5 s, slow every 10 s, fast every 2.5 s) and the power it takes. Point at a column to see the ore and its coordinates.
The filter slot takes an ore, raw ore, gem, ingot or dust: then only that is mapped.
